When engineering permitting support may be needed

Engineering permitting support may be needed when a project requires city, county, TxDOT, TCEQ, TDI, or floodplain permits. ALFA's licensed engineers help identify the engineering documents required, prepare the agreed deliverables, coordinate submittals, and respond to agency comments.

Engineering Permitting focuses on identifying required engineering documents, preparing agreed deliverables, coordinating submittals, and responding to review comments. For broader permit navigation across all Texas jurisdictions, see the companion Permit Support Services page. The two services overlap; your proposal defines which is included.

Project steps

  1. 1Permit identification — ALFA reviews the project and the applicable jurisdiction to identify the engineering documents likely required for the permit.
  2. 2Deliverable preparation — ALFA prepares the agreed engineering deliverables (plans, calculations, reports) needed for the submittal.
  3. 3Submittal coordination — ALFA assembles and coordinates the submittal package with the reviewing authority and tracks review status.
  4. 4Comment response — ALFA responds to reviewing-agency comments and revises the deliverables as needed; the authority having jurisdiction makes the final permit decision.

ALFA Engineering prepares engineering documents and coordinates submittals, but does not make permit decisions. Agency review fees, review schedules, and approval decisions are controlled by the applicable reviewing authority. The owner is responsible for permit fees and representations to the authority, and other consultants (architect, surveyor, geotechnical, environmental) are responsible for their own deliverables. ALFA does not guarantee permit approval or review timeline — the authority having jurisdiction makes the final determination.
