When permit support may be needed

Permit support may be needed when a project requires building permits, plan reviews, or agency approvals from Texas cities, counties, TxDOT, TDI, TCEQ, or local floodplain administrators. ALFA's licensed engineers help identify the required permits, prepare and assemble application packages, coordinate submittals, track review status, and respond to agency comments. The specific permits and scope depend on the project, the jurisdictions involved, and the reviewing authorities.

Permit Support Services covers permit identification, application preparation, submittal coordination, and agency comment response across Texas jurisdictions. For the narrower task of identifying required engineering documents and preparing the engineering deliverables themselves, see Engineering Permitting. For FEMA LOMA/LOMR and floodplain development permits, see Floodplain Engineering. For TDI windstorm certificate compliance, see Windstorm/TDI Inspection. These services overlap; your proposal defines which is included for your project.

Project steps

  1. 1Permit identification — ALFA reviews the project and the applicable jurisdictions to identify the permits likely required (city/county building, TxDOT, TDI, TCEQ, floodplain, utility/ROW).
  2. 2Application & document preparation — ALFA assembles the application package and prepares the agreed supporting documents needed for submittal.
  3. 3Submittal coordination — ALFA coordinates the submittal with the reviewing authority and tracks review status.
  4. 4Review tracking & comment response — ALFA monitors review progress and responds to agency comments and requests for revisions.
  5. 5Final permit — the authority having jurisdiction makes the final permit decision; ALFA does not issue permits or guarantee approval.

ALFA Engineering prepares permit applications and coordinates submittals but does not make permit decisions. Agency review fees, review schedules, and approval decisions are controlled by the applicable reviewing authority (city, county, TxDOT, TDI, TCEQ, or local floodplain administrator). The owner is responsible for permit fees and representations to the authority, and other consultants (architect, surveyor, geotechnical, environmental) are responsible for their own deliverables. ALFA does not guarantee permit approval or review timeline — the authority having jurisdiction makes the final determination.
